Full-Contour Zirconia

BruxZir™ Full Contour Zirconia

BruxZir™ is a fully contoured Zirconia crown and bridge restoration with no porcelain overlay.  Scanned and designed from your conventional, analog impression or digital impression in our Computer Aided Design Software these restorations are then milled in our milling machines.

This CAD/CAM work flow ensures precise marginal fit, and design parameters in line with your preferences for contacts, occlusion, and overall contour.  We finish each unit carefully to ensure a highly smooth and polished finish that will not wear the opposing dentition.  Our most artistic technicians stain and glaze each unit to ensure maximum aesthetics.

Indications:
Indicated for posterior crown and bridge restorations.   Full contour BruxZir™ zirconia serves a viable alternative for bruxers and grinders when the patient has previously broken or will likely damage a traditional PFM.  As these restorations are substantially more aesthetic than full-cast restorations and cost far less, they have become a very popular alternative.

Contra-Indications:

Preparation
We prefer a traditional chamfer preparation with at least 1.0 mm of reduction at the margin and 2.0 mm of anatomical occlusal reduction.  This material can be made much thinner, but our CAD/CAM milling systems produce far greater consistency with more classic-type of preparations.  Please avoid all undercuts, and do not bevel the preparation.

Cementation:

Ceramir Crown & Bridge or a resin-reinforced glass ionomer cement such as RelyX Luting Cement (3M ESPE; St. Paul, Minn.) or GC Fuji Plus (GC America; Alsip; Ill.)

For short or over-tapered preparations, use a resin cement such as RelyX Unicem (3M ESPE) or Panavia F2.0 (Kuraray; New York, N.Y.)

Tech Notes

Due to the hardness of Zirconia, it is naturally difficult to adjust and tedious to polish.  For this reason we recommend the Maverick Bruxzir Polishing Kit.  This kit includes synthetic grit diamond particle adjustment diamonds and also suspended in the polishing wheels and points.  Avoid carbides and use a light touch with the diamonds for adjusting.
