Digital dentistry has come a long way in the past 10 years. However, when it comes to treating edentulous patients, wax rims and pvs border molding still remain the most effective ways to convey spatial information including VDO, midline, lip position, bite relations and soft tissue capture.
Digital dentures are not defined by the use of a digital impression system. Rather, they are defined as an entire workflow where the lab digitally designs & 3D prints (or mills) the try-in & final denture. Benefits are increased precision, faster turnaround times, fewer appointments & a stronger more durable final denture.
You can use either! We accept traditional impressions, which we digitize, or digital scans from intraoral scanners. Having a digital impression system is the key to unlocking the 2-3 appointment copy/reference denture workflow.
Materials have come a long way since the launch of digital dentures. Maverick uses printable Lucitone by Dentsply, which is roughly 3 times stronger than traditional denture acrylic. It actually gets stronger & more fracture resistant at body temperature, providing superior durability and esthetics.
This is easy! Simply take an upper, lower & bite scan before extractions. Send Maverick the scan with instructions for a digital immediate denture. Make sure to specify in the digital RX notes any requests for VDO, midline shift, etc compared to the dentate impression. From there, our designers will virtually extract the teeth from the model & will print a final immediate denture that is ‘straight to finish’.
Like all of Maverick’s removable partials & dentures, Maverick’s digital dentures have a 1 year warranty that covers any defect or needed repair after successful delivery of the case.
